It All Starts With Community

Part of the Girls on the Run® curriculum is focused on community and what community really means. The girls learn about their community by planning, preparing and carrying out a project to develop a better understanding of what their role is in their community. The efforts of each project are donated back to the community.  To date, Girls on the Run Greater Toronto Area has donated over $43,000 back to the community.

Hospice Vaughan – a non-profit non-denominational community organization that provides grief and bereavement services, including individual counseling and support groups to adults, children and teens who have experienced the loss of a loved one, or is anticipating the loss of a loved one to terminal illness

Vita Nova – a non-profit charity that offers education and prevention services for pre-teens to senior citizens seeking help around issues such as eating disorders, family violence, and alcohol and drug abuse

Habitat For Humanity York Region - Habitat For Humanity International is an ecumenical, grass-roots Christian ministry with the goal of eliminating poverty housing. To date, over 450 homes have been
built in Canada and over 125,000 houses worldwide.

Free The Children - Is the largest network of children helping children through education in the world. Through their unique youth-driven approach, more than one million young people have been involved in innovative programs in over 45 countries. Free The Children programs focus on addressing the primary cause of poverty-a lack of access to education.

Child Find Ontario – Child Find Ontario offers support and educational programs to help families and keep kids safe, such as the KidCheck/Fingerprint ID Program, the Teen Runaway Prevention Program. These and many other safety programs are offered by dedicated, caring, police-screened Child Find volunteers in hundreds of communities across Ontario every year.

  Kids Help Phone - Canada's only toll-free, 24-hour, bilingual and anonymous phone counseling, referral and Internet service for children and youth.  Everyday, professional counsellors provide immediate, caring support to young people in urban and rural communities across the country.

   Sheena's Place - Sheena's place works with professionals and those personally affected by eating disorders to: provide hope and support; prevent eating disorders, raise awareness and foster education.
Sheena's Place share and encourage the following values and principles: acceptance; respect; accessibility; confidentiality; responsiveness; and personal ownership.

Sheena’s Place is a non-institutional, non-residential centre located in downtown Toronto offering a wide-range of support services. Sheena’s Place serves as a link between hospital based programs, schools, community agencies, physicians, therapists, families and individuals with eating disorders.
