At Girls on the Run® we believe that volunteers are the difference!! If you are looking for a rewarding, fun experience, then consider becoming a Girls on the Run® Coach or Assistant Coach!
The program session takes place each spring from March to May for nine weeks. Over the nine-week period the girls meet twice a week for one hour and fifteen minutes per lesson. There are at least two Coaches per site.
Our commitment to our volunteers:
- A welcoming environment
- Support both on and off the track
- A Coaches’ Box (containing curriculum and all required materials)
- A full day Coaches’ Training session
- CPR/First Aid Training
- Paid Police Screening
Your requirements as a Head or Co-Coach:
- Complete a full day Coaches’ Training session
- Successfully complete a Police Screening
- Successfully complete CPR/First Aid Training
- Attend pre-season Coaches’ Meeting, plus two additional meetings spaced throughout the season
- Prepare for and supervise 18 – 1 hour and 15 minute long lessons in a manner consistent with the GOTR curriculum and philosophy
- Assist with planning the 5km walk/run celebration
- Participate in the 5km walk/run event
- Be reliable and dedicated
- Be committed to the Girls on the Run® mission and philosophy
Your requirements as a Assistant Coach:
- Complete a one-day Coaches’ Training session
- Successfully complete a Police Screening
- Successfully complete CPR/First Aid Training
- Assist with planning the 5km walk/run celebration
- Participate in the 5km walk/run event
- Attend workouts and serve as the number one encourager, cheer leader, finish line greeter and high fiver!
- Assist Head or Co-Coach in lesson preparation
- Be reliable and dedicated
- Be committed to the Girls on the Run® mission and philosophy
